If not, you need active.  Active has a chip to convert and passive does not. Passive  is cheaper. Q:Can I use this for a  projector? A:It is possible however I found that you  need the proper Display Port output. There are 2 versions  and 1 does not support HDMI. You should go online and search  DP to HDMI. Q:Can I use this to hook up an amazon fire  stick to my tv that does not have an hdmi port? A:No, the HDMI plug on this device is output,  not input. You need a converter that takes HDMI Input and  Outputs something that your TV can handle. Q:Dose this support windows10? A:Yes it does. I have it connected to a  windows 10 computer
